Walking around in Basel we encountered many worn out domestic objects on the street with a note 'Free to take'.  We found out that inhabitants of Basel have to pay a lot to get rid of their old furniture. Many people put their discarded furniture and small goods on the street with a note 'Gratis Zum mitnehmen'. This is of course a very gentle gesture but also feels like a form of hypocrisy. During two weeks we wrapped on the spot all the 'Gratis' garbage on the streets in Basel with life saving blankets. These 'presents' were all over the city and we left them in the exact positions as we came across them. Some of the wrapped objects were taken immediately without checking the inside and some of them remained on the location for days. In the documentation room of Filiale there was a 'Free shit wrapping kit' to take home.
