Video: Reyner Banham Loves Los Angeles

In 1971 architectural critic Reyner Banham published 'Los Angeles. The Architecture of Four Ecologies,' which would become one of the most quoted books on Los Angeles. In that book, he examined the built environment of Los Angeles in a way that was at that moment never seen before, looking with fresh interest at the architecture of popular taste. The city of Los Angeles that he described was also a mobile city. It was Banham who wrote 'I learned to drive in order to read Los Angeles in the original.' This 1972 BBC documentary shows Banham exploring Los Angeles.
