Olof Dreijer & Mamori is possible after a long collective process; recording, discussing, dancing, and performing... The musician who leads the project is Olof Dreijer (born 1981), a member of the electronic pop duo The Knife, formed with his sister Karin Dreijer Andersson. Although The Knife very rarely performs live concerts, Olof performs as DJ Coolof in nightclubs across Europe. For the exhibition “There is no audience, an exhibition about public imagination” Olof Dreijer responded to the question of “how we remember exhibitions after their deinstallation” and decided to work on the sound samples that he recorded at Mamori, where the virgin Amazon forests are located. Out of those recordings, he produced a song to be installed in the space and to be distributed to the local radios, clubs, and music stores at Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Dreijer installs a composition based on and inspired by animal recordings in the entrance of the show “There is no audience” and the building of Montehermoso creating a borderline between visible and audible. Bringing together sounds from forests and lakes, mostly of animals and other whispers of nature, Dreijer recreates a unique form of music, a synthetic identity for nature, and a performative process for the audience. How “Olof Dreijer & Mamori” project diffuses into the exhibition space will be firstly perceived by the ones who always feel sad about the empty exhibition halls that wait for their audience.
