In November 2007, we met in the French countryside in La Garenne to discuss the journey by cargo-ship from Rotterdam to Douala/ Cameroon. In any case, the artists and the project are part of the on-going traffic and trade between the continents. How can the joint crossing become a lived platform of exchange 'on the way' to Africa between artists from Europe and artists from Cameroon now based in Europe? What will happen on arrival? Where to go with a bag full of shared conversations, stories, experiences from the 'incubator' of this journey...? Claudia Wegener made recordings of this meeting and has built up an archive with selection of the discussions on the project.
