The practice started in 2000; in the first years we were 2 leading architects. my former partner has specialized entirely in design of expositions and has left the studio. I am presently building a new team of young professionals following the network model. In all the projects we work together with other practices or individuals: from various backgrounds: artists, architects, urbanists and geographers or engineers. During its existence Tussen Ruimte has specialized in renovation, ecology, re-use and participative design. Typical clients would be: alternative housing coops, social-cultural entities, organic farming or fair trade companies. We lend our (technical) skills to them and use their expertise to develop new typologies and materials. One example is the 'text-a-bility' project below. For Tussen Ruimte architecture is not only expressed in buildings; it's also in the processes of dwellers collectives shaping public space; innovation of building components or renewable energy applications.
