Jonas Ohlsson’s project in Los Angeles Works perhaps best reflects the city itself. All over the place but not without focus; big, sprawling, but living on moments of intense concentration and, anticipation of what is eventually going to happen.
For the last seven years the Swedish born, Amsterdam based artist Jonas Ohlsson has been going to Los Angeles every year to do art or to curate shows with other people, meeting people in the Los Angeles art and gang scene. Miraculously, this led to very good drawings, music and installations, which are usually combined in lively total experiences for the viewer. A degree of unpredictability is essential to his work. Ohlsson gathers ingredients, playfully, intuitively but always very critical, and cooks up a wonderful dish.
