My visual work is an investigation into concepts of staging, of reality and fiction, and of origin and effect. The aim of this investigation is a research into the staged situations that are present in everyday social reality. As a visual artist I use theatricality to explore the line between fiction and reality, sometimes to reveal how reality is, actually, staged; sometimes to create my own, (re-)staged, reality.
In both cases my work focuses on the relation between culturally determined preconceptions of reality and what we actually experience. I use theatricality as a means of isolating, concretizing and questioning this relationship (check Maurice Bogaert)
