From the very beginning of my art practice I decided to frame it in the structure of four circles. It had a marked and clear beginning and it will have a marked and clear end, as a narrative. Once I have fulfilled those four circles I will have finished my project and consequently I will abandon art practice. Each of these circles is a well-defined project, independent from the rest and, in turn, has shared commonalities that establish contact points among them. The idea is that every of my works can be always related to other works in a wider context (the circle), which can be considered an autonomous work as well.

Delphine bedel
Delphine Bedel deals with the changes that occur in a city through tourism, urban development and planning, from shopping malls to schemes of entertainment. The artist's idea behind her approach are the ways, is how space defined as public can become a site of personal experience again. The theoretical roots of her investigations are located among others in Norman Klein's discourse of the "Scripted Spaces", Lieven de Cauter's writings on the "Archaeology of the Kick" and his analysis of the panorama in entertainment culture, or John Urry's investigation on the "Tourist Gaze".

My work is a socio-archaeological inquiry into my immediate surroundings. I collect and accumulate ordinary objects, images, and repeated actions from my daily life and local environment, and then use them to reveal the idiosyncrasies of human nature and the contradictions inherent to our contemporary lifestyle. The development of my projects often begins with simply noticing an out-of-context object or an illogical occurrence. I have used damaged trees and plants that I have found in the woods, insects that have flown into my studio, lost shoes, and garbage from the streets and sidewalks to describe and question human behavior, especially the conflicts I observe in our urban, natural, and social environments.

My work creates a time where memories and present come together. In this new undefined dimension people talk, move and establish their role and their relationship to each other.

My research evolves through the use of architectural drawing conventions as structures of desire; it focuses on the development of organizational modes that explore the notion of the in-between space, a space defined at the rift of binary given structures and stereotypical opposites. I suggest that this in-between area might provide us with the possibilities of a future architecture, an architecture of acceptance of the ‘other’, of the ‘different’.

The content of my work includes exactly what you see, smell, or touch upon approaching the completed piece; it is an experience.

Los Angeles Urban Rangers
LA-based geographers, environmental and art historians, artists, curators, architects, and others – who aim, with both wit and a healthy dose of sincerity, to facilitate creative, critical, head-on, oblique, and crisscrossed investigations into our sprawling metropolis and its various ecologies. Fashioned as a mobile and site-specific interpretive force, and appropriating the figure of the stereotypic park service ranger, we offer educational campfire programs and guided hikes throughout Los Angeles.

Statements on how we treat each other in the world. Only be reminding people about this we can make a change. If media, money and law makers are hard, WE ARE HARDER
Katarina Zdjelar
Katarina Zdjelar works with language, not as a subject but, as she says, ‘as a tool’. She approaches existing situations and stages others: a foreign language class in a Dutch language school, in which she herself is a student; an Asian woman labouring to reproduce the foreign sounds and shapes of the artist’s name.
collectif_fact
The city is a complex space. So complex even, that to list its parts would be like describing each and every human activity. The sheer numbers of signs and activities, and the way they intertwine, form actual knots and nodes, whose parts are inextricable. This, however, is precisely what collectif_fact has been doing for several years- Architecture, city-planning, vehicles, signs, advertising, and users are all extracted, cut out, and broken down as to be re-combined and re-constructed.
